FLORIDA FOOTBALL NEWS – 12/1/08

Here’s the news coming out of the Sunshine State today:

We start with a quick look back to Saturday’s 45-15 whipping of FSU in
Tallahassee.  As Mike Bianchi of The Orlando Sentinel points out, Urban
Meyer doesn’t just beat his biggest rivals… he blows them out.

This was not a good year for pre-season SEC pickers.  But one team was not a surprise — Florida.

Receiver Percy Harvin’s right ankle sprain is going to keep him out of practice early this week, but it doesn’t sound like offensive coordinator Dan Mullen is too worried about it.  “He’s not going to have to practice that much to be able to do what he needs to do.”

The Gators have plenty of options if Harvin can’t go in the SEC Championship Game, but it’ll still be a pretty big step back.

Want to know what Nick Saban thinks about Florida’s offense and how to stop it?  Here you go.

The BCS worked it’s usual nonsense this week, handing Oklahoma a bid to the Big 12 Championship Game over Texas, a team that beat the Sooners by 10 points earlier this year.  Florida fans need not worry about such things… if the Gators topple the Tide, they’ll be playing in the BCS title game.  Period.

Finally, The Chicago Tribune believes that Charlie Weis’ chances of survival at Notre Dame might have a whole lot to do with whether or not UF’s Meyer has any interest in the job.
