Here are the main stories from the Peach State today:
How does Mark Richt characterize his relationship with Auburn’s Tommy Tuberville? “We’re buddies.”
In fact, the long rivalry between Georgia and Auburn (dating back to 1892) is actually one of friendliest (and I use that term loosely) in the SEC. “It seems like everybody gets along a little bit better, even though we do compete in a fierce way,” said Richt. “It’s almost, almost, almost like family.” “Feuding cousins,” Vince Dooley said. It helps to not have fellows named Spurrier or Meyer involved, too.
Tomorrow’s game at Auburn will be the Bulldogs’ fourth in a row away from home. But Richt doesn’t believe it’s been as tough a stretch as some have suggested. (Also in this notes column: Josh Davis will probably start at right tackle over Kiante Tripp.)
There are quite a few young Dawgs who wish they had been able to travel with the team the past few weeks.
Marc Weiszer of The Athens Banner-Herald believes Georgia has at least four players on their way to first-team All-SEC honors.
Receivers coach John Eason isn’t ready to say that this year’s receiving corps is the best he’s had at Georgia.
