Here’s what’s making headlines in Georgia today… and we start with a Bulldog coach interested in the open Auburn job:
Former Auburn offensive lineman and assistant coach Rodney Garner says he wouldn’t mind getting a phone call from his alma mater. “I don’t expect to but, sure, I’d be interested.”
Garner, who is UGA’s assistant head coach, recruiting coordinator and defensive line coach (how does he have time for all that?), also said that he “would love the opportunity” to coach the Tigers if he got the chance.
Knowshon Moreno has been named a first-team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association.
All the heat on defensive coordinator Willie Martinez reminds a long-time Georgia sportswriter of a similar situation back in 1974. At that time, Vince Dooley hung to Erk Russell and the rest is history.
It’s a bad weekend to be a Dawg fan living in Atlanta. Every story revolves around the SEC Championship Game… which features two teams that whooped up on Mark Richt’s team.
