Here’s the latest news from Georgia:
This should tick UGA fans off: Georgia’s staff will be receiving bonuses for reaching the Capital One Bowl… despite the fact that most folks in the Peach Bowl were thining national championship or bust. And, yes, defensive coordinator Willie Martinez will be getting a bonus of $31,956, too.
According to Richt, Auburn hasn’t contacted him or anyone else at Georgia for permission to talk to Rodney Garner and/or Stacy Searels about joining Gene Chizik’s staff. Both are former Auburn players.
Garner interviewed for the head coaching position, so I’d be surprised if he take a position on Chizik’s staff. It’s one thing to think, “what the Hell are they doing?” It’s another to think “they hire HIM over me?”
Bulldog cornerback Asher Allen apologized to the media this weekend for keeping his broken hand a secret. “I’m sorry about that but that’s what I had to do. You hate to have that kind of injury, especially playing cornerback and having to cover people with one hand. But if you’re going to play, play to the best of your ability.”
