A few more tidbits are coming out regarding Billy Gillispie’s early morning DUI in Kentucky today.
The former UK basketball coach was arrested in Lawrenceburg (outside of Lexington) at about 2am EST.
This was not Gillispie’s first alcohol-related incident. In addition to the “suspicion of drunken driving” charges that were dropped against him in Texas in 2003 (which we mentioned earlier today), Gillispie was also arrested for driving while intoxicated in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1999. He pleaded guilty to reckless driving and the DWI was dismissed in that case.
But here’s the kicker, according to WLEX-TV, Gillispie told the police who pulled him over that he had been playing golf.
Ah, so he had been night-putting. Just putting at night.
