Hornsby Arrested Again; All Eyes On Nutt

Remember the name Jamar Hornsby?
Hornsby, a defensive back, was let go by Florida after he was arrested and put on probation for using a dead girl’s credit card in Gainesville in 2007.
Following a year at East Mississippi Community College in 2008, Houston Nutt signed him and gave him another chance in the SEC. He was considered one of Ole Miss’ best signees in the 2009 class.
But things aren’t working out too well with that whole second chance thing.
Hornsby was arrested last week — again — this time for aggravated assault and petit larceny (the same as petty larceny).
The arrest came in Starkville and police there are offering no specifics on the case.
Hornsby’s latest troubles will certainly put some media focus on Nutt.
When you take a player who’s already been booted off of one campus, you raise eyebrows. If that player then immediately gets in trouble on your campus, you get plenty of pressure to let him go.
Nutt will now get that pressure. I can assure you that the Ole Miss athletic department doesn’t want to see this story on ESPN. And Rebel fans don’t like the idea of having an outlaw program, either.
So the ball is now in Nutt’s court. We’ll see how handles this one.
