KENTUCKY AT TENNESSEE

Goodbye Phillip Fulmer- hello Lane Kiffin.

It’s the end of an era in Knoxville as Fulmer coaches his final game for the Volunteers tonight.  On Monday, Kiffin is likely to be introduced as the new Tennessee coach (a story Jimmy Hyams first told you about here at MrSEC.com on Wednesday.)

In addition to Fulmer, Tennessee will say goodbye to 25 seniors tonight in what will only be the third night game in November at Neyland Stadium in UT history.

“We had our week of mourning a few weeks back,” Fulmer said. “I was so thrilled as to how they came back after the open date and played so well against Vanderbilt and really want us to do that tomorrow and end this thing with a ‘W’.

“I want ‘em to go play football and have fun. We will do that.”

It will certainly be a lot more fun with a victory, something the Vols have done against Kentucky 23 straight times.

Coach Rich Brooks and his Wildcats expect a close game.

“We’ve tried to stress to the players that you have to maintain focus and intensity for four quarters, because so many of these games come down to one or two plays,” Brooks said. “And if you look back over the past couple of weeks, it’s been one or two plays that have gotten us beat.”

The oddsmakers anticipated a close game.  The gamblers think it will be even closer.  The line opened at five points.  That’s now been shaved down a point to a point-and-a-half.
