Kentucky Headlines – 10/6/09

1.  Mike Hartline has thrown six interceptions and lost a fumble in his last three games.  That had the fans booing on Saturday.

“I don’t think they were booing him as much as they were booing me for not replacing him,” Rich Brooks said.  “And so be it.  That’s life in the SEC and big-time football right now.  I hate it.  I hate to see that creep in what I consider to be a great fanbase, but there’s always the people that know a lot more than the coaches and the players and they want what they want when they want it.  They buy the tickets.  They can boo, they can cheer, they can jump up and down, they can blow snot.  They can do whatever they want.”

They can blow snot?  I’d prefer to sit behind those folks.

2.  Boos, cheers or snot, Brooks still believes Hartline is UK’s best option at quarterback.

3.  John Clay of The Lexington Herald-Leader has posted an ugly email he received from a South Carolina fan who has way too much time on his hands.  Sounds like some kid on a playground rather than an adult with a life.

4.  A 90-year-old Kentucky fan just missed his first home game since the 1945 season.  Buddy, that man’s seen a lot of losses.

5.  In basketball news — did somebody say basketball! — Josh Harrellson feels more comfortable heading into this season.

6.  Billy Gillispie once told Harrellson to go stand in a bathroom stall during his halftime speech.  I wonder if Harrellson will be at Gillispie’s February 10-11 DUI trial to offer his old coach support.  That’s if Gillispie doesn’t accept a plea offer.
