Here’s what’s making news — other than John Calipari — in Lexington today:
Billy Gillispie’s $6 million lawsuit against the University of Kentucky Athletics Association contends breach of contract and fraud. The suit — which refers to Gillispie as one of the country’s “premier men’s head basketball coaches” — will boil down to whether or not the buyout clause in the ex-coach’s “memorandum of understanding” is binding.
As we told you yesterday, the new was almost all bad out of the Central Kentucky yesterday. Prized recruit John Wall made headlines when he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of breaking and entering.
If you’re looking for something upbeat this morning, John Adams of The Knoxville News Sentinel writes that UK football coach Rich Brooks is an outstanding coach… even if he’s overlooked “nationally, in the SEC, and even at his own school.”
