Meeks Named SEC Player of the Week

Junior Jodie Meeks was named the SEC Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday. The 6-4 Norcross, Ga., native helped lead Kentucky to a 2-0 record on the week with wins against Florida (68-65) and Arkansas (79-63). Meeks scored 10 of Kentucky’s last 12 points, including a game-winning three-pointer with 4.7 seconds left, to defeat the Gators. He finished with a team high 23 points. He followed that effort with 45 points at Arkansas, a new Bud Walton Arena record. He was 17-of-24 from the field, including 7-for-12 from the three-point line. Meeks also became the 56th member of UK’s prestigious 1,000 point club.
