Newton Has No Problem With Mid-Season Firings

Alabama fired Mark Gottfried at mid-season. A few days later, Georgia fired Dennis Felton.
Both schools took some hits for not allowing their respective coaches to finish out their seasons.
Take heart, Tide and Dawg fans, long-time SEC basketball coach and athletic director CM Newton says there’s nothing wrong with making a mid-season move.
“It’s my experience that once you make the decision that a change has to be made, you should go ahead and do it. It doesn’t do anybody good to let them twist in the wind when you already know what you’re going to do. It’s better for everybody to just go ahead and get it started.”
