Here are today’s headlines from Oxford:
The sports editor of The Oxford Eagle believes Ole Miss will definitely land a Cotton Bowl bid with a win tomorrow over Mississippi State. He thinks the Rebels “deserve” a better bowl than LSU. He’s absolutely right, but as Clint Eastwood once said in “Unforgiven,” “Deserve’s got nothing to do with it, Kid.” Butts-In-Seats is the name of the bowl game, not fairness and just rewards.
The goal for Ole Miss was to become more physical in 2008. Offensive tackle Michael Oher and defensive tackle Peria Jerry have embodied that shift.
