OLE MISS FOOTBALL NEWS – 9/22/08

Maybe we all crowned Jevan Snead a tad too early. After his breakout performance against Wake Forest a couple of weekends ago, it now looks like the Rebels signal-caller isn’t who we thought he was.
After struggling with Samford the week before, Vanderbilt forced four Snead picks in UM’s 23-17 home loss this weekend.
“You can’t play (quarterback) effectively without first learning to protect the football. It starts there,” said Ole Miss offensive coordinator (and former quarterback) Kent Austin. “And he’s getting an education right now. We’ll see what he learns.”
Ole Miss had two drives end within inches of the Vandy goal-line which didn’t help matters. One ended on a Commodore goal-line tackle and the other ended in a fumble.
You can’t win doing that. And you can’t win doing that when Top 5 Florida is your next game. And it’s on the road. Uh-oh.
