Here’s your Rebel fix for the day, first with football news:
Houston Nutt’s worries about grades appear to have been well-founded. Linebacker Ashlee Palmer is expected to be ineligible for the Cotton Bowl due to academic woes. He’s the Rebels’ fourth-leading tackler.
On the plus side, the man backing up Palmer, Patrick Trahan has been improving. “He’s gotten better if you’ve noticed over the past three or four weeks,” said Nutt. “He’s really come along. He’s done some things better than Ashlee.”
Regarding Rebel roundball:
Coming off a 103-70 beatdown at New Mexico on Saturday, UM will try to bounce back tonight against 1-5 Alabama State.
One of the players hoping to have a better showing tonight is Malcolm White. Against New Mexico, White fouled out… without scoring a point… in just eight minutes. Perhaps he should have played hockey, ’cause it sounds like White’s the goonish enforcer Andy Kennedy sends out to protect his scorers.
