Notes from Rich Brooks’ teleconference:
* “We’re coming off a good second half at Georgia.” Saturday’s game with Tennessee will determine who finishes second in the SEC East. The Vols are “extremely well coached.”
* The new television schedules are “an adjustment for everyone” in the conference. Playing night games late in the season comes with “some pretty good financial rewards.”
* Asked about the X’s & O’s difference between the NFL and college ball, Brooks said you see more variety on offense, “totally different offensive systems” in college. “Defensively, you see more looks in the NFL than you do in college” because they have more time to work with their players. There are more defensive adjustments from week-to-week in the NFL. Brooks said he expects Monte Kiffin to bring some new looks this week against his “rookie quarterback.”
* “This senior class came in here with really a promise of trying to bring something good to Kentucky football. They certainly have had a historical impact on” the program.
* Derrick Locke and Randall Cobb “are as competitive as any players I’ve ever coached.” Their smaller bodies have taken a beating this year, but they’ve continued to play. Both practiced today. “They just show up and keep on ticking.”
