South Carolina Signee Arrested On Alcohol Charge

South Carolina signee Victor Hampton was arrested Friday after he was found with alcohol at Darlington (S.C.) High School.
The defensive back was booked shortly after noon for underage drinking, according to Joe Person of The State in Columbia.
Hampton, who originally committed to Florida while he attended Charlotte Independence High School, was a participant in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio last month.
Hampton was arrested for disorderly conduct on July 3, 2008, but the charge was later dropped.
Here’s a statement released by Hampton following his arrest on Friday.
“I deeply regret putting myself in this situation and the ultimate responsibility is mine and mine alone,” he said. “I know that I have let so many people down who believed in me, from my family to friends to Darlington High School to USC. … I realize that I can never allow anything like this to happen again.”
Hampton’s scholarship to South Carolina isn’t expected to be affected by his most recent arrest.
