Notes from Steve Spurrier’s teleconference:
* “Our team is very healthy, I think, for this time of the season. Hopefully we can put together a real good game. We haven’t won one in a while.”
* Asked about his rivalry with Bobby Bowden, Spurrier said, “They were awfully good back in the ’90s, as well all know.” “He’s done a tremendous, great job there at FSU. When you look at what he’s done there he’ll go down in history as one of the best college football coaches of all time.”
* Spurrier said that he understands that teams play when television dictates. Pre-game meal will be at 8am for Carolina this week (with a noon kickoff). Spurrier said he doesn’t think kickoff time matters very much.
* Spurrier said that Tim Tebow ranks among the SEC’s all-time greats. “He’s one of the best to ever play in the SEC.” “One of the best things he’s done is convert third downs… running or passing.”
* Not many questions for Spurrier today.
