Tebow’s throwing motion: Should Florida change a good thing?

Florida

ESPN is taking a look at the changes in Tim Tebow's throwing motion — the same motion that helped the Gators quarterback win a Heisman Trophy and two national titles. Why fix something that's far from broken?

As the Sentinel reported in early April, the Gators are making slight changes to Tebow's throwing motion to bolster his NFL stock while preserving the qualities that make Tebow great. Tebow will still run the ball with ferocity and make plays on the move, but the Gators are experimenting with the no-huddle offense and under-center snaps. New QB coach Scot Loeffler has Tebow throwing at a "10 o'clock" motion instead of his natural sidearm tendencies from baseball.

So what do you think…should Gators fans be alarmed that there's too much tinkering going on? I could certainly see Tebow starting the season out slow before finding his footing with his newfound ability to complete quick, 7-yard NFL routes from under center. Remember that Tebow started last season slow before Florida's remarkable run through the SEC.

Teammates are convinced that Tebow will throw a better, smoother ball in 2009.

Says receiver Carl Moore: "He's throwing a lot tighter spirals. I can tell he's throwing more over the top than sidearm."
