TENNESSEE FOOTBALL NOTES – JULY 18TH, 2008

Two stories and an internet rumor for you Vol fans:
1) Tennessee’s Labor Day opponent, UCLA, will be without the services of their starting strong safety. Bret Lockett has been suspended for the Bruins’ opener due to academics.
The Bruins also had two quarterbacks go down in Spring Practice. As we’ve written on this site before, West Coast trips are usually difficult for SEC teams, but this one looks to be shaping up pretty good for the Vols.
2) The “Big Orange Blast,” a pep rally two days prior to the Tennessee-Florida game will feature singer Pat Green.
Oh, the marching band, cheerleaders, Smokey and Phillip Fulmer will be there, too.
But Pat Green! (Actually, I like his song “Wave on Wave.”)
3) Now this one’s pure speculation, but the folks at 3rdsaturdayinblogtober have gotten their hands on what looks to be an official uniform design sheet that shows the Vols’ football unis with some changes for the 2008.
Could be right, could be wrong. We just pass it along. (Photo at left.)
