1. The attorney for Janzen Jackson — who had attempted aggravated armed robbery charges against him dropped today — said that it’s “up to Coach (Lane) Kiffin” whether or not the freshman safety will return to the UT team.
2. Sources say Jackson could be back at practice as early as tomorrow.
3. Get this: Kentucky’s seniors enter Saturday’s game with 30 career wins and three bowl trips. Tennessee’s seniors enter the game with 30 career wins and two bowl trips.
4. So where might the Volunteers go bowling this season?
5. Forced to play a number of walk-ons, Kiffin says his staff will have to recruit better to makes sure “we don’t have this issue again.”
6. One of those walk-ons who contributed Saturday was kicker Devin Mathis. Not many folks in Neyland Stadium knew who he was when he trotted onto the field against Vandy.
7. In basketball news, Tennessee couldn’t run, but they still outlasted DePaul 57-53 in the semifinals of the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands.
8. Tennessee plays Purdue tonight and former Boilermakers coach Gene Keady says there’s a formula for beating Bruce Pearl’s system.
