Tennessee has made in-state recruiting a priority since Lane Kiffin became the Vols’ head coach last month.
That means UT has made a strong push for Memphis Melrose linebacker Greg King, and he has noticed.
“Texas Tech and Tennessee right now,” King told the Knoxville News Sentinel about the top two schools he’s considering.
King said UT was helped by a recent visit from defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin.
“He treated me like I was already with him,” King said. “He was shaking my hand all crazy. He’s a cool person. He’s laid back. He was like, ‘I’m just trying to get back into it.’”
The Vols are trying to make sure they stay in it with offensive lineman Peter White from Washington, D.C., told the Sentinel he plans to visit UT on Jan.. 16. He’s also considering Miami and Maryland.
It’s been a hectic schedule for receiver Marlon Brown from Harding Academy in Memphis, TN. He recently competed in the Under-Armour All-American Game, and he’s currently playing his senior basketball season.
Still, Brown is handling the busy schedule well.
We told you earlier this week that UT leads for defensive back Mike Edwards from Glenville High in Cleveland, Ohio. Well, that’s still the case after an in-home visit from Lane Kiffin.
UT is trying to sway the decision of highly-touted defensive back Janzen Jackson from Lake Charles, La. Jackson is committed to LSU.
How do the Vols plan to change Jackson’s mind? By also recruiting his father.
