THE SEC WILL GET THE BCS NOD

If Alabama, the #1 team in the nation, beats Florida to go to 13-0 there’s no doubt Nick Saban’s team will play for the national title.

If Florida beats Bama and finishes 12-1, technically, there’s still a chance they won’t jump Oklahoma (if they win the Big 12 Championship Game) and Texas.

But I don’t see that happening.  Florida’s sole loss was by one point to a team that’s currently ranked.  That’s not a bad loss, even if Texas’ lone loss is “better.”  Texas’ loss was a last-second thing, too… on the road to a Top 10 team.

But two years ago, voters took matters into their own hands to ensure
Michigan and Ohio State would NOT hold a rematch.  Florida got the nod and went on to annihilate OSU.

Last year, the poll voters jumped
LSU over Georgia to get the Tigers into the title game.  LSU also went on to smash the Buckeyes.

So I would be
very surprised if they don’t pit the SEC champion against the Big 12
champion.

Here are three reasons:

1) Big 12 vs SEC is what folks have talked about all year

2) Florida is playing better than anyone in the country right now

3) The SEC has won the last two BCS title games handily

So I’d rest easy Gator fans.  If you take care of business on Saturday (a big “if”), then you should get your shot in Miami.

Of course, I can’t believe that Oklahoma’s playing in the Big 12 title game rather than a Texas team that beat them by 10.  So what do I know?
