Updating Tennessee’s Quarterback Search

Tennessee’s No. 1 priority in its 2009 signing class is finding a quarterback of the future.

UT has offers out to two uncommitted quarterbacks: Jesse Scroggins from Lakewood (Calif.) High School and Chase Rettig from San Clemente High School in Sierra Madre, Calif.

Dave Hooker of the Knoxville News Sentinel has an update on what the two quarterbacks are thinking.

Rettig is the most recent quarterback to receive a scholarship offer from UT. Former Vol quarterback Casey Clausen, who has worked with Rettig, believes Rettig can be a good college quarterback.

“He has the physical skills too,” Clausen said. “He’s a good athlete and I think he has one of the strongest arms in California.”
