Arkansas secondary coach Lorenzo Ward is headed to South Carolina after mulling an offer and negotiating with the school this weekend, according to GoGamecocks.com and other reports.
Ward
Ward joins the Gamecocks staff to coach alongside longtime friend Ellis Johnson, the defensive coordinator at the school. If you remember, Ward and Johnson were hired by Arkansas last January but Johnson left after a three-week stint to return to his home state, South Carolina.
Ward was in the middle of a two-year, $190,000 deal with Arkansas.
Not good news down the recruiting stretch. Ward was, from everyone I’ve talked to, an excellent recruiter for the Hogs. Heck, check out his résumé when he was at Virginia Tech.
Big loss for UA head coach Bobby Petrino, who must now find a replacement while on the recruiting trail.
