WYOMING AT TENNESSEE

The 3-6 Tennessee Volunteers will run out the string with a lame-duck coach and plenty of pissed-off players, both former and current, upset over how the end of the road came for coach Phillip Fulmer.

“We’re going to play with a lot of emotion,” sophomore Eric Berry said Monday. “I think you’re going to see it on the field Saturday. You might see a little tension out there also, a little bit of people frustrated. You might see a new Tennessee team out there.”

All well and good but too bad it took a coach losing his job for the “new” Tennessee team to arrive.

If the Vols win out, a 6-6 record is good enough for a bowl game and a chance for a winning season.

“It would be easy for us to go into a foxhole and quit,” defensive end Wes Brown said. “But Coach Fulmer is coaching us the same way he did a year ago, two years ago. He’s still out there coaching hard and we’re going to keep playing hard for him.”

Victory number four on the season should come today in Knoxville.  The Vols are 27-point favorites against Wyoming.  Tennessee has scored more than 27 points only twice this season.  The Cowboys defense is ranked 39th in the country in total yards but this is a team that lost 54-7 to TCU two weeks ago and has given up more than 40 points four times this year.
