Chris Faulk Latest LSU Player To Declare For NFL Draft; Double-Digit Early Departures For The Tigers

nfl-draft-podium-tightOffensive Lineman Chris Faulk is the latest player from LSU to announce he’s making an early departure from school to take his talents to the NFL.  Faulk only played one game in 2012 for LSU before tearing knee ligaments in practice.

Faulk joins nine other LSU players who’ve decided to forego their senior seasons:

Defensive ends Barkevious Mingo and Sam Montgomery

Defensive tackle Bennie Logan

Linebacker Kevin Minter

Safety Eric Reid

Cornerback Tharold Simon

Running backs Spencer Ware and Michael Ford

Punter Brad Wing

The list of players taking their talents to the NFL climbs to 11 when you count cornerback Tyrann Mathieu, kicked off the team in August.  That many early departures is thought to be the most ever from one school in one NFL draft.

Mingo, Montgomery, Logan and Reid are all thought to be first-round picks.  The most juniors LSU has ever had drafted in one year was three.

Mike Detiller, publisher of the NFL Draft Report, tells the Shreveport Times, “”LSU is turning into the new Miami U. as far as the draft.”
