Hargreaves Commits To Florida

Florida received a commitment Thursday from cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III from Wharton High School in Tampa, Fla.

Hargreaves made the decision on the eve of Florida’s highly-anticipated Friday Night Lights, which should feature several highly-touted prospects. Hargreaves won’t be able to attend because he’s scheduled to participate in the Gridiron Kings 7-on-7 tournament in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., according to ESPN.

Hargreaves, who is Florida’s fourth defensive back commitment for the class of 2013, is ranked the nation’s No. 1 cornerback and No. 4 prospect overall by ESPN RecruitingNation. Don’t be surprised if Hargreaves is able to help the Gators early in his career, according to ESPN writer Billy Tucker.

“It is very difficult to find projected college corners who actually play the position full-time in high school and possess a vast understanding of both zone and man concepts with the talent to execute them at a premier level,” Tucker wrote. “Hargreaves III is that kind of prospect.”

Hargreaves is Florida’s 18th commitment for the 2013 class.
