OT Tunsil Picks Ole Miss

mrsec-breaking-newsFive-star offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil has announced that he’ll play college ball at Ole Miss.  Tunsil is yet another huge grab for Hugh Freeze and his staff.  He is widely considered to be the #1 tackle prospect in the nation.

Rebel fans can think defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator Chris Kiffin for reeling in Tunsil.  Asked why he picked Ole Miss, the big lineman said, “It’s all about relationships and that’s what me and Chris Kiffin had.”

Freeze said that his staff’s targeting of specific players that he and his fellow coaches had ties to has paid off.  No question.  The Rebels have landed the nation’s top defensive end, top offensive tackle, and top wide receiver.

Hotty Toddy.

Tunsil’s Top Two: Georgia, Alabama

Offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil from Columbia High School in Lake City, Fla., has two schools at the top of his list.

“Right now I have a top two of Georgia and Alabama,” Tunstil told Rivals. “Alabama is coming off a national championship team and they’re like a powerhouse team and Georgia is like a finesse team and in the playbook, they pull their tackles.”

While Georgia coach Mark Richt probably doesn’t want “finesse” to be used to describe his team, he’d happy to be in the race for Tunsil, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 1 offensive tackle by Rivals.

Florida would love to move back up the list. The Gators are third in the race for Tunsil.

“I mean I live right down the street from Florida, I can go there anytime,” Tunsil said. “I’ll say I have a top three, but right now I have a top two (Alabama and Georgia). They (Florida) are in that third spot.”

Bell, Johnson No Longer Committed To Florida

Offensive lineman Rod Johnson from Delray Beach, Fla., joined cornerback Tre’ Bell by decommitting from Florida during the weekend.

Johnson was being recruited by assistant coach Aubrey Hill, who resigned from Florida on Aug 3. That led to Johnson’s decommitment, according to the Palm Beach Post.

“With (Hill’s departure), Florida head coach Will Muschamp told Johnson he’d handle his recruiting directly. That apparently isn’t enough to keep Johnson solid at the moment.”

Florida has three offensive line commitments for the 2013 class: Cam Dillard, Octavius Jackson and Josh Outlaw. The Gators will continue to recruit highly-touted lineman Laremy Tunsil from Lake City, Fla. Other targets for Florida include Joe Fennell from Ft. Myers, Fla., and Kenny Lacy from Phoenix, according to GatorNation.

Florida has 20 commitments for the class of 2013.
