Left tackle Chris Faulk will miss LSU’s contest with Washington Saturday night in Baton Rouge. Coach Les Miles said yesterday he’s not sure when Faulk will return to action after suffering an undisclosed injury in practice.
The question now: Who’ll replace him?
According to The Baton Rouge Advocate, Miles has a few options available:
* Insert backup Josh Dworaczyk into the lineup. He’s had 26 career starts at left guard in his career.
* Move La’el Collins from left guard to left tackle and have Dworaczyk take his role with the starting group.
* Move Alex Hurst from right tackle to the other side and then use Vadal Alexander as the starting right tackle.
LSU does have some experience working with out their left-side anchor. Faulk was also injured to start fall camp. Miles said yesterday that Faulk’s current injury was not the same as his previous injury. There are reports that Faulk’s knee was injured this week.
The Tigers rushed for 316 yards last Saturday against North Texas with both Kenny Hilliard and Alfred Blue going over the century mark. How the shuffling on the line will impact LSU’s run game — and its protection of quaterback Zach Mettenberger — remains to be seen.
