According to the National Weather Service, reports of a tornado warning in Hoover, Alabama — the site of SEC Media Days — are, ahem, overblown. It is storming in Central Alabama and the area is under a flash flood advisory, but according to the NWS’ official website, there is no tornado warning at the moment.
However, put 1,000 media members in a room with their cell phones and let one guy start a rumor and you get a Twittersphere full of tornado warning posts. Makes you worry about the state of news, doesn’t it?
But as of 12:51pm ET, the National Weather Service says there is no tornado warning for Hoover. Let’s hope it stays that way.
