Alabama received its 8th commitment for the 2012 class when running back Kenyan Drake from Powder Springs, Ga., and athlete Tyler Hayes from Thomasville, Ala., gave their pledges to the Crimson Tide.
“In my eyes, you can’t get a better offer than Alabama,” Drake told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “They offer you top-tier academics and top-tier athletics. It’s just, like, what else can you get from a college? I decided, why wait when I already have a great feeling about Alabama?”
Drake has also received offers from Georgia, Tennessee, Georgia Tech and Purdue. He could be the top running back prospect from the state of Georgia and recently included in the “Tentative Top 10” list from Chip Towers of the AJC.
Hayes chose Alabama over an offer from Auburn.
“I just wanted to get it over with,” Hayes told the Huntsville Times. “I wanted to do what I could to control t so I just went ahead and did it.”
Alabama is off to an impressive start with its 2012 recruiting class. The Crimson Tide already has seven members on the ESPNU watch list for next February’s class.
