1. Game-high 16 points for Kenny Boynton, all in the second half, powers Florida to its sixth SEC tournament final under coach Billy Donovan. “There is nothing easy about getting here, and as a group or as individuals, you have to accept, embrace and really be driven by that challenge.”

2. Alabama goes cold – more than five-minute 0-for-9 stretch in second half. Coach Anthony Grant refuses to lobby for NCAA bid: “I don’t do that.”

6. Like Tennessee, Kentucky left to sit, wait and wonder.  Guard Ryan Harrow shot 2-15 from the field on Friday. “It’s on me. It’s all my fault.”

7. Freshman reserve Derrick Millinghaus hits a shot with 1.1 seconds left to cap Rebels comeback.  Marshall Henderson scored 20 of his game-high 27 points in second half.

8. Missouri had 14-point second half lead.  In last 8 1/2 minutes, went 2-for-12 from the field, 1-for-3 from the line.  Coach Frank Haith: “They were way more aggressive at driving the ball during the stretch than we were.”

SEC Tournament Roundup: LSU & Vanderbilt Hang On, Tennessee & Missouri Roll On

1. Getting his first start since February 9th, Shavon Coleman scores 24 points for LSU. ”They were playing off me a lot and I know I can shoot; I’ve always had that confidence.”

2. Career-best 32 points for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope not enough for Georgia.  25 of 32 points came in second half but missed late three to tie the game.  Coach Mark Fox: “He’s earned the right to take whatever shot he wants, he’s had such a great year.”

Tennessee 69 – Mississippi State 53. Video Highlights

3. Tennessee jumps out to 16-point first half lead and cruises to 20th victory of the season. Coach Cuonzo Martin: “We won the game. In this arena, in this setting, you win ballgames and move on.”

4. Difficult season comes to an end for the 10-22 Bulldogs. Coach Rick Ray: “I’ve been in this business for 20 years, and I’ve never been in a situation where a team has dealt with this much adversity both on and off the court.”

5. Coming off the bench, backup point guard Kyle Fuller scores 19 points for Vanderbilt.  Coach Kevin Stallings: “He played his fanny off. He was awesome.”

6. Familiar story for Arkansas as Razorbacks drop first round game in SEC Tournament.  Marshawn Powell: “We’re in a rough patch. The last couple teams I played on, we didn’t really have the head like we have on this team with Coach A.”

7. Five dunks for Missouri’s Alex Oriakhi as the Tigers’ center finishes with  13 points and 10 rebounds.  ”I want to win, and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to win. I’m trying to send a statement to my teammates.”

8. Aggies tied their season-low shooting percentage at 24 percent, now 18-15.  Coach Billy Kennedy: ”I think it’s a long shot that we get to the NIT.”

1. Freshman guard Fred Thomas scores a career-high 21 points as Bulldogs win for the third time in four games – will face Tennessee today.  ”We’re playing hard, playing smarter and tougher than the other team.”

2. South Carolina’s Brenton Williams scored a career-high 38 points against South Carolina earlier this month but just six points Wednesday.

Texas A&M 71 – Auburn 62. Video Highlights

3. Despite playing with a broken bone in his pinkie finger, A&M guard Elston Turner scores a game-high 22 points. Aggies will play Missouri tonight.

4. Auburn ends the year losing 16 of its last 17 games, wins just nine games all year. Coach Tony Barbee: ”Now that it’s over, I’ll spend time reflecting on why things went the way they did and try to get better from there. That’s all we can do.”

3. With the victory, the Rebels clinch a double-bye in the SEC Tournament.  Marshall Henderson and Murphy Holloway combine for 38 points.

4. Loss drops LSU to the No. 9 seed in conference tournament.  LSU’s Andre Stringer led the Tigers with 18 points. “They just came to play. We thought we were going to come to this game and play hard, but they played harder than us.”

5. Improving Vanderbilt gets their sixth win in last nine games.  Rod Odom and Dai-Jon Parker each scored 18 points.

6. South Carolina coach Frank Martin: “A lot of credit to coach Stallings and those kids. I enjoy watching their team because they play it the right way.”

7. Arkansas has five players in double figures as Razorbacks bounce back from loss at Missouri.  Underclassmen Marshawn Powell and BJ Young don’t start game, get “one more year” chants from student section.

8. After injuring his wrist and finger against LSU, Elston Turner doesn’t play for Aggies.  Coach Billy Kennedy: ”I thought once we settled into it, we got good production. We had our opportunities.”

9. Tied at 58, Alabama guard Trevor Releford connects on a buzzer-beater just beyond midcourt: “I knew it was on target but I thought it was going to be a little short.”

10. Georgia battles back from 14-point halftime deficit only to fall short.  Coach Mark Fox: “I thought we were going to win the game and then we ended up losing. How’s that feel? Not very good.”

12. Vols go on late 16-4 run to put the Tigers away.  UT senior guard Skyler McBee: “At the end of the season, a lot of it’s about heart and the will to win. We have that right now.”

16. Auburn drops it 15th game in 16 tries – now 12-38 in three years of SEC play under coach Tony Barbee. Worried about job security? “No. Not at all.”

SEC Hoops: Kentucky Falls To Georgia, Saturday Game Against Florida Looms Large

1. Season-high 10,062 fans turn out at Stegeman Coliseum for Senior Night.  Kentavious Caldwell-Pope leads the Bulldogs with 24 points and 10 rebounds.

2. First loss for Kentucky to a team outside the RPI top 100.  John Calipari: “I am so disappointed in the job I’ve done with this team.”

3. What’s next for Kentucky? “Beat Florida, don’t suffer a bad loss in the SEC tournament, and lace up those dancing shoes.”

SEC Hoops: Carolina Career Night, LSU Improves Position, Gators Clinch Title, Vols Get Needed Win

1. Gamecocks win behind career-high 38 points from Brenton Williams.  That’s the most ever for a South Carolina player in an SEC game, second-highest point total in the league this year behind Elston Turner, Jr.’s 40 at Kentucky.

2. South Carolina coach Frank Martin: “Brent, for the last eight, 10 days, something has re-clicked there. I don’t know what it’s been. Maybe I need to ask him. But his whole vibe, his enthusiasm, his aggression, his attention to detail has been better.”

LSU 68 – Texas A&M 57. Video Highlights

3. For the fourth straight game, 20 points for Charles Carmouche.  With the victory, Tigers assured of not having to play on the opening day of the SEC Tournament.

4. With 16 points and 13 rebounds Ray Turner sparked an Aggies comeback that fell short.  A&M Billy Kennedy: ”I thought LSU physically, their guards, gave us a lot of problems.”

Florida 66 – Vanderbilt 40. Video Highlights

5. Gators clinch fourth outright SEC title in school history.  Smothering Florida defense held Vanderbilt to just 26.9 percent from the floor.

6. Kedron Johnson scores 15 points for Vanderbilt.  Commodores become the 12th team this season that fails to score at least 50 points against Florida.

7. Vols go on 14-2 second-half run to pull away.  Trae Golden and Jordan McRae each score 21 points.

8. Frankie Sullivan scores 24 points to keep Auburn in the game. Tigers 14th loss in 15 games – 21st loss of the year, most total losses in a season.

SEC Hoops: Mizzou Crushes Arkansas, Ole Miss Survives Late Alabama Rally

1. Senior Night at Missouri features some testy exchanges between coaches Frank Haith and Mike Anderson.  Laurence Bowers, recruited to Mizzou by Anderson, leads the Tigers with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Anderson: “Bowers was fantastic. I’m trying to beat him in the place I brought him to. … Something ain’t right about this.”

2. Joe Strauss: “Missouri-Arkansas isn’t Louisville-Kentucky. It isn’t blood sport. But Anderson received no quarter.”

3. Blowout loss drops Arkansas to 18-12 and 9-8 in conference play – “leaves little doubt the Razorbacks will have to win an SEC Tournament title next week to get into the NCAA Tourney field.”

    5. Jordan McRae makes 10-of-15 shots, scores 35 points for Tennessee – rest of team scores 33. Coach Cuonzo Martin: “We didn’t get a good flow on offense.”

    6. Tennessee tournament chances? “Tennessee’s hopes of playing its way into the NCAA tournament didn’t officially end as well, but they took a shot on the jaw.”

    Missouri 89 – LSU 76. Video Highlights

    7. With 52 points in the paint, Mizzou dominates inside.  Alex Oriakhi and Laurence Bowers combine for 41 points and 20 rebounds.

    8. LSU led 25-12 in the game before Missouri went on a 29-8 run.  Coach Johnny Jones: ”They did a great job of controlling the paint area (Saturday), which is an area we had concern with.”

    Arkansas 73 – Kentucky 60. Video Highlights

    9. Razorbacks force 19 Kentucky turnovers, grab SEC-high 20 offensive rebounds.  Coach Mike Anderson: “We tried to make the game as chaotic as we could and I thought that was the difference.”

    10. Points off turnovers – Arkansas 30, Kentucky 2.  John Calipari: “I wake up every day, don’t know how the team will play.”

    11. Arkansas tournament chances?  ”The Razorbacks kept their hopes alive…This team still has quite a bit of work to do, however.”

    Mississippi State 73 – Ole Miss 67. Video Highlights

    12. Bulldogs snap 13-game losing streak with over their in-state rivals.  Mississippi State coach Rick Ray: “I was tired of coming up here and talking about a loss after every home game.”

    13. Marshall Henderson scores 16 points but make only 4-of-19 shots from the field.  Reginald Buckner draws a costly technical foul.

    14. Ole Miss tournament chances? Seriously damaged unless the Rebels win the SEC Tournament. Should coach Andy Kennedy worry about his future? ”That question should be asked to the person that’s in charge of my job. Not me.”

    Texas A&M 74 – South Carolina 56. Video Highlights

    15. Aggies go on 14-0 second-half run to break the game open.  Game-high 28 points from Elston Turner.

    16. During eight-minute scoreless stretch, Gamecocks miss 14 shots and commit five turnovers.  Coach Frank Martin: “If we keep missing open shot after open shot after open shot, it’s hard to win.”

    Vanderbilt 62 – Auburn 55. Video Highlights

    17. Behind Kedren Johnson’s 16 points and 14 from Kevin Bright, Vanderbilt gets its fourth win in its last five games. Coach Kevin Stallings: “We’re very happy to get a very ugly road win.”

    18. 13th loss in 14 games for Auburn – worst stretch for the Tigers since 1947.  At 9-20, second twenty-loss season under coach Tony Barbee.
